What’s our Intiative?

The Digital Literacy Programme, launched by Peepul in collaboration with Amazon Future Engineers (AFE), is designed to embed 21st-century skills into schools and strengthen classroom learning. Currently running in 82 Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) schools across seven zones — Central, South, West, Najafgarh, Karol Bagh, Shahdara North, and Shahdara South — the programme focuses on developing computational thinking skills among primary-grade students.

By complementing the existing curriculum with algorithmic thinking, problem-solving, and digital literacy, the programme not only sparks early interest in computer science but also helps guide children toward future career opportunities in technology and related fields.

Key Interventions

Curriculum and Content

The programme delivers weekly digital literacy classes for Grades 3–5, covering:

  • Computational thinking
  • Online safety
  • Coding and problem-solving

A customised curriculum, developed with experts and supported by platforms like Code.org, ensures lessons are hands-on, age-appropriate, and engaging.

Capacity-building of teachers

Teacher development is central to the programme. Using a structured, cascaded training model:

    • Peepul trains Master Trainers in specialised content and pedagogy.
    • Master Trainers, in turn, train teachers across MCD schools, building their capacity to deliver digital literacy content confidently, integrate digital tools into classroom practice and guide students in developing 21st-century skills.

This approach ensures sustainability and scalability within the system.

Reward & Recognition

To sustain teacher and student motivation, the programme embeds a strong recognition framework:

  • Coders of the Week: Celebrating student achievements in digital literacy classes.
  • Champion Teachers of the Week: Recognising educators who demonstrate excellence in delivering computer science instruction.

These recognitions reinforce positive behaviours and encourage consistent classroom practice.
